Each state in the nation of Mexico has at least one Latter-day Saint stake with headquarters in that state.
The Church has 227 stakes throughout the country, which has 31 states plus the federal district of Mexico City.
The Church has just over 1.5 million members in Mexico, which is the second-largest number of members in a country, behind the United States and just ahead of Brazil.

The largest populations of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are in Mexico City and the adjoining state of Mexico, accounting for 46 stakes, or about one-fifth of the stakes. Those two areas have 21% of the country’s residents.
The state of Puebla, which adjoins Mexico City to the east, has 7% of Mexico’s stakes and 5% of Mexico’s population.
Another large population of Latter-day Saints is among three Gulf Coast states of Veracruz, Tamaulipas and Nuevo León, which have 38 stakes among them, or about one-sixth of the stakes in Mexico. Those three states have 14% of the country’s residents.
